Industry Experience

Intern — Biostatistics

Insmed Incorporated

2026.05 — 2026.08
  • Developed and validated Bayesian workflows for pediatric clinical trials using robust mixture priors to incorporate adult evidence. Built R Shiny applications for simulation and real-data analysis of count and time-to-event endpoints, evaluating operating characteristics, effective sample size, and sensitivity to information borrowing.

Intern — Big Data Engineering

Agricultural Bank of China

2019.06 — 2019.08
  • Developed a data classification and search platform, using k-means and spectral clustering to consolidate related tables, improve information retrieval, and reduce storage redundancy.

Intern — Business Analytics

Shanxi Financial Assets Exchange Co., Ltd.

2018.08 — 2018.09
  • Analyzed customer transaction data and evaluated new financial products, providing recommendations to improve product design and customer adoption.

Intern — Technology Innovation Department

China Telecom, Taiyuan Branch

2017.01 — 2017.02
  • Processed backend data for BESTPAY, then China’s third-largest mobile payment platform, in Shanxi Province and supported business approvals, annual-report reviews, and merchant adoption initiatives.

Research Experience

Ph.D. Research, Department of Statistics

University of Connecticut

2023.09 — Present
  • Develop statistical methods for complex networks and high-dimensional data, focusing on covariate-informed clustering, Bayesian modeling, and MCMC computation, with applications to HIV/AIDS networks, functional brain networks, and network-guided gene selection. This work includes the C4 and RCDC methods and their accompanying R packages.Supervised by Dr. Jun Yan, Dr. Wenrui Li and Dr. Panpan Zhang.

Research Assistant, UConn Center on Aging

UConn Health

2026.01 — Present
  • Modeled longitudinal relationships among appetite loss, inflammatory biomarkers, and incident physical disability in community-dwelling older adults using mixed-effects and survival methods.Supervised by Dr. Germine Soliman, Dr. Lisa C. Barry and Dr. Emil Coman.
  • Conducted longitudinal analyses of metabolic syndrome and overactive bladder among women, along with a separate mediation analysis involving inflammatory biomarkers.Supervised by Dr. Iman Al-Naggar and Dr. James J. Grady.

Research Assistant, Department of Public Health Sciences

UConn Health

2023.10 — 2026.01
  • Conducted statistical modeling and analysis for several independent projects using Korean COVID-19 data, covering mobility and consumption patterns, social-distancing policies, urban connectivity, and long-COVID outcomes. Applied spatiotemporal, time-series, network analysis, and longitudinal methods to study behavioral and health dynamics during and after the pandemic.Supervised by Dr. Youngji Jo.

Research Assistant, Department of Statistics

Virginia Tech

2022.06 — 2022.09
  • Developed an online R demonstration of generalized additive models. Implemented examples of causal-inference methods, including inverse-probability weighting, propensity-score methods, marginal structural models, and g-estimation. Completed a literature review on safety verification for autonomous driving systems (ADS).Supervised by Dr. Feng Guo.

Research Intern, Chinese Evidence-Based Medicine Center and Cochrane China Center

West China Hospital, Sichuan University

2021.05 — 2021.07
  • Cleaned and structured clinical data using SQL and R, developed rule-based identification of sepsis cases from medication and symptom records, and created visual materials to communicate statistical methods to clinical collaborators.Supervised by Dr. Xin Sun.

Leadership & Service

Deputy Director, Human Resources Center

Student Union of SYSU

2017.09 — 2018.11
  • Helped launch “YanWu (語),” a WeChat platform for student dialogue that reached more than 2,000 readers, and established cross-departmental collaboration and member evaluation systems.
  • Designed “The Young,” a training program attended by more than 700 members, and built a leadership pipeline for future Student Union leaders.

Member, Secretariat Department

Student Union of SYSU

2016.10 — 2017.06
  • Co-organized a university-wide New Year’s Eve gala for more than 10,000 attendees with the Arts & Culture Department; oversaw venue approvals and managed over RMB 20,000 (approximately US$3,000) in budgeting, reconciliation, and reimbursements.
  • Collaborated with the Internal Affairs Department to organize more than five team-building and social networking activities for Student Union members, with cumulative attendance in the thousands.
